Information for Parents

Welcome to the start of the 2020-2021 school year !

While the school year will look a little different, we are still excited to see everyone, and look forward to the year ahead. Here are some very important pieces of information you will need to know:

1)      Student Schedules
Schedules will be available soon in both the Student and Parent Portals. Thank you for your patience. It took additional time to re-organize classes this year.

2)      When is my first day of school?
All classes have been divided in to 2 groups (cohorts).
Please check your schedule carefully to see if you are Cohort A or Cohort B so you know when you start school.

Cohort A starts Monday September 14th – Doors open at 8:00 am
Cohort B starts Thursday September 17th – Doors open at 8:00 am

You can find a link to the new daily schedule on the main page of our website.

3)      Can I change my classes?
We are not able to change your courses because of the many steps involved in planning for this year. All courses were selected based on the classes available after re-organizing for COVID-19 and the new Full Remote High School.

4)      Can I switch to a different Cohort?
Students are not able to switch from one Cohort to the other at this time.

5)      Do I have to wear a mask at school?
Everyone entering the school building is required to wear a mask, and keep it on throughout the day, unless they have presented Administration with paperwork for an approved medical exemption. Anyone not willing to keep their mask on while in the building will be sent home.

6)      Where do I eat lunch?
Students are strongly encouraged to bring a lunch and eat in the school. Every class is assigned a specific classroom to eat in. There will be no food served in the cafeteria, and students will not be permitted to walk the halls.
If a student leaves the school, they will not be able to re-enter the building (regardless of the weather) until the end of lunch when the outer doors are briefly re-opened.

7)      Can I move from in-person learning to the new Full Remote High School?
Registration is now closed for the Full Remote High School. There may be opportunities to switch for the start of Quadmester 3 – February 4th. Students may put their names on the waiting list by contacting their Guidance counsellor.

8)      Can I move from the Full Remote High School back to Saunders for in-person learning?
Registration is now closed for Saunders in-person high school. There may be opportunities to switch for the start of Quadmester 3 – February 4th. Students may put their names on the waiting list by contacting their Guidance counsellor.

8)      How do I know what Bus I am on, and when it is picking me up?
Go to www.MyBigYellowBus.ca to find your bus information.

PLEASE NOTE:
-  Doors are unlocked between 8:00 am - 8:20 each morning for students to enter
